Jose Mier with an I-5 update in Sun Valley. After less than the allotted 36 hours of freeway closure, Interstate 5 reopened around 12 pm on Sunday, April 26.
This comes as welcome news for Sun Valley residents who anticipated a major disruption in traffic as crews tore down the overpass at Burbank Blvd.
Instead of the nightmare scenario many had envisioned, the process went relatively quickly. This was perhaps the best time to accomplish the destruction of the old bridge since traffic is lighter than usual due to COIVD-19 shutdowns preventing people from going places.
As of this writing the freeway is wide open to traffic in both directions and Sun Valley can get back to business, such as it is these days.
