Jose Mier’s Mom and Pop List
Restaurants are once again hurting from our never-ending shutdown but it’s the small, local eateries that suffer more than others. Larger chains can better afford to ride out the downturn. They are better equipped to handle all the changes that this virus is forcing on many–things like plexiglass barriers between customers and staff and all the cleaning supplies that are now necessary.
Our Sun Valley single owner restaurants mostly don’t have the same wherewithal to handle the increased costs which are coupled with less patrons, none of whom are dining in. For our smaller restaurants that don’t have outdoor seating they will have to rely on take out or delivery alone. That’s why it’s incumbent on us to keep taking out from these restaurants.
In the past I’ve included larger chain restaurants in my lists and the ones on this list have appeared in my earlier josemiersunvalley.net posts but after watching a news broadcast about a couple of restaurant owners in Colorado who were forced to close down for good, I thought about what’s happening here is Sun Valley. We need to make every effort to support our struggling restaurants, their owners and employees here in our town.
